Description

NGC 6397  a globular cluster in the constellation Ara is one of the two nearest globular clusters to Earth at about 7,800 light-years. The other is M4.
It's evolutionary age (based on evolutionary models) is about 13,400,000 years (+- 800 million years). The cluster contains around 400,000 stars and is one of at least 20 globular clusters of the Milky Way Galaxy that have undergone a core collapse into a very dense stellar agglomeration.

7 Jan 2024 Update

Rubbish weather and idle hands so fully reprocessed with the latest GHS, BluxXTerminator V 4.
I was kept the best 4.5 out of 5.8 hours in Subframe Selector, based on FWHM, Eccentricity and Star count.
I apply BX Correction  to cropped RGB frames, then for RGB combined I use GraxPert for background extraction and SPCC for color correction before very gentle BlurXTerminator.
Conversion to Non-Linear using GHS to adjust linear black point before initial color stretching and general stretching. Once in Non-Linear I use a lightness mask generated with ACDNR and use that to reduce background, invert mask and then boost saturation for the stars. Compared to the original , a bit of a difference :-).
